President Dr. Lily D. McNair will share her teaching perspectives that span three decades with 欧美高清鈥檚 education graduates at the May 9 School of Education鈥檚 Annual Teacher Education Induction Ceremony. The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. in the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center.
The ceremony is an important rite of passage for education candidates and for the university鈥檚 teacher education faculty. It acknowledges the vital importance of the teaching profession, as well as how this special career field is comprised of persons who are highly dedicated to the future of young people.
In addition, the ceremony itself is the formal induction of Tuskegee鈥檚 education graduates into the teaching profession, by which candidates recite the teacher education oath and are presented the code of ethics of the teaching profession.
McNair鈥檚 higher education career has included teaching responsibilities at Spelman College, the University of Georgia, the State University of New York at New Paltz, and Vassar College. During her tenure at UGA, she was the major professor for more than 10 doctoral students. Her research has led to her publication of several teaching resources, including co-editing the first four editions of Women: Images and Realities, an introductory and highly popular multicultural women鈥檚 studies textbook, which is now in its seventh edition.
The Annual Teacher Education Induction Ceremony is one of several events leading up to the university鈥檚 134th Spring Commencement Exercises, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 11. The ceremony 鈥 which will feature Loretta Lynch, the nation鈥檚 83rd U.S. attorney general 鈥 will be held in the university鈥檚 Gen. Daniel 鈥淐happie鈥 James Arena.
