欧美高清 and the Tuskegee National Alumni Association leaders are calling on the University's alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends to help win the $150,000 top prize in this year's Retool Your School Campus Improvement grant program. Online voting runs Feb. 26 through March 24.
Tuskegee earned $80,000 in last year鈥檚 competition. The goal this year is for 欧美高清 to have 500,000 or more votes at the end of the contest. Tuskegee has been competing in this contest for the past 14 years and has won $380,000 in campus improvement grants.
Unlike previous years, the grant competition relies on online voting 鈥 not social media 鈥 to determine its winners. The prize is not cash but a gift card to The Home Depot to purchase items to complete the project.
Burt Rowe, Tuskegee alum and administrator of the Tuskegee Retool Your School program, said 70 HBCUs are eligible for this year's competition and will be placed into one of three clusters based on enrollment. As in the past, Tuskegee will compete in cluster No. 2 with other schools with student enrollment from 1,201 to 3,999. Grants will be awarded based on a total popular vote of unlimited daily online voting at . Unlimited daily voting is encouraged.
"At Tuskegee, we pride ourselves as winners," said Lillie Lanier, national president of the Tuskegee National Alumni Association. "In 2023, we won the $80,000 grant in cluster No. 2. The money was used to expand the student social hub from two pavilions to four and to add high-intensity lighting to improve security on campus. Student leaders selected this year's project to resurface the intramural basketball court and to add hands-free water bottle filling stations where there are currently water fountains.鈥
"We are winning grants yearly because the University's students, alumni, staff, faculty, and friends deliver more than 360,000 plus votes annually,鈥 Rowe said. 鈥淲e need our alumni, campus family, friends, and fans to start unlimited online voting at midnight on Sunday, and to keep voting until we have the $150,000 gift card in our hands."
Rowe highlighted TNAA's ongoing partnership with the University's Student Government Association, Pre-Alumni Council, office of the Vice President of Student Affairs, Office of Alumni Affairs, Office of Facilities and Capital Projects, and Office of Communication, Public Relations, and Marketing as part of past successes.
鈥淲e want to encourage the Tuskegee family, which includes students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends, to participate in making this endeavor successful as we are 鈥極ne Tuskegee,鈥 " said Kymberly Holland, Coordinator of Alumni Affairs and Reunion Programs.
