欧美高清 presenting 82 degrees during summer commencement exercises

欧美高清 will confer 82 degrees to its newest graduates during its summer commencement exercises on Friday, July 28. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in the 欧美高清 Chapel.

Friday鈥檚 ceremony will feature commencement speaker and 1971 欧美高清 graduate Milton Davis. Davis, a native of Tuskegee, has distinguished himself through a legal career spanning 43 years and service in the military, public and private sectors. After completing a bachelor鈥檚 degree in political science at Tuskegee, Davis earned his juris doctorate from University of Iowa鈥檚 College of Law in 1974.

Davis鈥 career achievements include being among the first African-Americans in Alabama to be named a state assistant attorney general. He received nationwide acclaim for his role in securing the full pardon for Clarence Norris, the last known surviving 鈥淪cottsboro Boy,鈥 on the basis of innocence. In 1977, Davis returned to Tuskegee to begin his private legal practice. His career highlights also include 25 years of service in the U.S. Air Force Reserves Judge Advocate General Corps, through which he ultimately attained the rank of lieutenant colonel, as well as teaching business courses as an adjunct professor in Tuskegee鈥檚 Andrew F. Brimmer College of Business and Information Science.

Davis served for eight years as a member of the Alabama State Board of Bar Examiners, in addition to numerous committees of the Alabama State Bar Association and as president of the Macon County Bar Association. He is a life fellow of the Alabama Law Foundation, a member of the Lawyers Advisory Committee for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, and a former member of the Lawyers Advisory Committee for the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. For four years, Davis served as the 29th general president of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.

Tuskegee will award two doctoral degrees, 38 master鈥檚 degrees and 42 bachelor鈥檚 degrees, as well as commission two second lieutenants in the U.S. Army Reserve, during Friday鈥檚 ceremony.
