The 欧美高清 College of Veterinary Medicine (TUCVM) alumni donated $247,720 during the 59th Annual Veterinary Medical Symposium last month.

This symposium was also the 80th anniversary celebration of the veterinary medicine program at Tuskegee. TUCVM alumni are strong supporters of the college, which was evident once again with the reunion classes' financial contributions of $247,720 made during the Alumni Gala on March 21.

A highlight of the Alumni Gala was the guest appearances of Dr. Mark A. Brown, President and CEO of 欧美高清, and First Lady Gwendolyn Brown. Dr. Brown gave greetings and assured attendees of the university's support for the future goal of building a new Veterinary Teaching Hospital beginning with the Small Animal Hospital/Clinical Building in phase 1.

鈥溑访栏咔 is known for solving the world鈥檚 most complex problems,鈥 said Dr. Mark A. Brown, President and CEO. 鈥淲hen you go anywhere in the country and there is a veterinarian of color serving, you can almost guarantee they are a Tuskegee graduate. Their commitment to advancing the profession is clear and their generosity is evident based on what was raised for this event. We appreciate the ongoing support.鈥

鈥淥ur 80th Legacy Anniversary: Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Present and Embracing the Future,鈥 underscored the dynamic speakers and several approved sessions for participants. The opening sessions featured two historic keynote speakers, T.S. Williams lecturer Dr. Michael Q. Bailey, 鈥82 alum, and the first Black president-elect for the American Veterinary Medical Association, and General Session speaker Dr. Jerome Adams, anesthesiologist and the 20th Surgeon General of the United States.

鈥淚 appreciate President Brown鈥檚 support of the College since the beginning of his presidency on July 1, 2024, particularly in ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of the DVM program,鈥 said Dr Ruby L. Perry, dean of the college. 鈥淗is commitment is clearly demonstrated through substantial financial investments that have directly contributed to the program鈥檚 growth and continued excellence.  I am also appreciative of our Reunion Classes at each symposium who do a phenomenal job with giving back.鈥

鈥淚 often boast about the strength of our alumni, friends, and partnerships and the incredible level of engagement they bring to the college's success,鈥 she said.  鈥淭heir active involvement is making a meaningful difference, ensuring that future generations of students pursuing a veterinary medical education from Tuskegee will have the opportunity to do so."

The veterinary medical symposium is the largest continuing education event sponsored by the college that annually brings together veterinarians and alumni from across the country to discuss important issues related to animal health and veterinary medicine. During the 80th Celebration Alumni Gala this year, the following Reunion Classes were honored: 1950, 1955, 1960, 1965, 1970, 1975 (50th year - golden class), 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000 (25th year - silver class), 2005, 2010, 2015 and 2020.  To learn more about the college, visit: www.tuskegee.edu/vetmed.
