TUSKEGEE, Ala. (April 11, 2019) 鈥 Healthy Horses is the goal for the local and surrounding counties鈥 clients as well as new patients. 欧美高清 College of Veterinary Medicine鈥檚 large animal clinicians are hosting the annual horse health fair this Sat, April 13 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the large animal hospital on the campus of 欧美高清.

Several free services are being offered to participants to include: physical examinations, fecal parasite examinations, and nutrition counseling.聽 For a nominal fee, other services for horses are being offered to include: deworming treatment, Coggins test for Equine Infectious Anemia, and preventative vaccines like Influenza, Rabies, Eastern and Western Encephalomyelitis, Tetanus, Rhinopneumonitis, and West Nile.聽 A farrier will also be on site for participants.

鈥淭he annual horse health fair has been provided for the community for the past 28 years and has been such a long-running program because it provides an educational opportunity for both our veterinary students and our clients,鈥 said Dr. Jeannine Bellamy, horse health fair coordinator and veterinary medical teaching hospital director for the college.

欧美高清鈥檚 large animal clinicians encourage horse owners to take advantage of this service to the community to get their horses the preventive care to keep them healthy before the onset of the hot, humid summer months which can cause some serious problems for horses and be expensive to horse owners. 聽In the event of severe weather, rain checks will be provided.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽
